Rarity awoke rather easily, (only able to sleep in the first place thanks to filling up on Kale's delicious food), and slipped the eye cover up to her forehead. It had been quite sometime since Rarity had been up this early, even beating the sun on this winter day; but if there was ever a reason to justify it, why, Manehattan would be just that. She gently made her way over to a window and allowed for a lazy stream of ice blue to escape from the tip of her horn. It gripped around a golden rope and tugged downward at her command, causing the curtain before her to open ceremoniously. To her surprise, hardly any light entered the room, and that which did, was a simple glow from the looming stars. Still, a bright smile sat on her face, expressing her inner excitement regarding the weekend's plans.
Though the natural beauty of the sky was quite a sight to behold, no work could be done without formal lighting. Opal hissed as Rarity approached a lamp, "Opal dear, Mommy has to get ready for her trip! You will get plenty of beauty sleep while I am away." And with that, the light flickered on, both of them squinting from the change.
"Applejack!" she called mindlessly, expecting for her friend to still be tucked away sleeping, "Applejack darling, it's time to get up! I will make us something nice to eat, and then I will help you get ready. Doesn't that sound nice?" Her voice was surprisingly cheerful. Not that she wasn't a pleasant pony, but today was special, and you could certainly draw that from her tone. She stood up on her hind legs and put a front hoof onto her comforter, shaking lightly, "Applejack~" but there was still no response. She tilted her head with a little chuckle and tried once more, "And here you told me you didn't think you'd get a wink of sleep!"
Humming a little tune, Rarity took the top of the comforter in her mouth and pulled it down over what should have been Applejack's head. However, there was no Applejack! "Huh?" She glanced around the room, entirely confused. She hadn't heard her get up, and quite honestly...she would've heard her leave, thanks to the bells on her front door. "She is most likely in the powder room." A giggle escaped as she thought of how Applejack might try to apply makeup herself.
Once again she stepped gracefully through the room and knocked against the door to her powder room. "Applejack darling, are you decent?" No response. She knocked again. Still.. no response. Her ears fell, brushing against the curlers in which her mane was being held, and puckered her lips. "Oh you had better be downstairs..."
Rarity was, in fact, deathly afraid that Applejack would find some way to get out of the trip. How- she wasn't sure, because she knew that her friend would never lie to her. But with as nervous as Applejack had been lately, Rarity wasn't convinced that she would go easily. "Don't worry, Rarity." she coaxed, her robe flowing angelically down the stairs, "You already talked to her about this, remember? Everything is going to be fine."
No sign of her in the boutique, which wasn't likely anyway. (Unless, of course, Applejack was looking at herself in the 180 mirror again.) She also wasn't in the design room, or laundry room, or any of the closets... Her last stop was the kitchen, and oh how she hoped she would find her there. If not, the trip would be cancelled. All of her planning in vain! Because she couldn't possibly go to Manehattan with just Kale! ...Or could she. "No! How dare I even consider! That would be completely inappropriate!" She scolded herself verbally for even thinking such a thing. And with her head held low, she entered the kitchen and let out a sigh.

"Wouldja keep yer voice down? Mah head is poundin'!" Applejack wass indeed there in the kitchen, sitting at the table and looking like she didn't get a wink of sleep last night. The truth was, she was only able to sleep for a brief moment, until a nightmare that she barely remembered ruined the peace.
She only remembers a few things, towering buildings... Kale was there... so was Rarity... and the next thing she remembered was jolting awake in a cold sweat... so she spent the night like she was when Rarity found her, sitting at the table and slowly drinking more and more coffee.
She wasn't sure why, but she couldn't remember a time that she was more scared, nervous, and just plain jumpy than she was right then and there. "Ah guess it's a good thing we have an early train to catch, huh?" she smiles weakly. "Ah hope ya don' mind that I had some o' yer coffee..." although... 'some' may be putting it a bit lightly.
"Jus' let me know when yer ready to go... ahve been ready fer a while" Also an understatement, since that was the first thing she did when she decided she wouldn't be sleeping.
"An' what was that about somethin' inappropriate?"

"Wouldja keep yer voice down? Mah head is poundin'!"
Rarity's head shot up, giving her a weirdly dizzy sensation. She shook it away and looked up at her jittery friend, "Applejack! There you-" she began to exclaim, but then recalled her headache, and continued with a whisper, "There you are. I've been looking for you everywhere!"
She stepped over to Applejack, and inspected the bags under her eyes, trying to keep from displaying her displeasure. The poor thing had obviously gotten no sleep at all, which was honestly beyond Rarity's comprehension, considering the heavenly cloud of a bed she owned and slept on. Perhaps the facials should have waited until the morning...
"Ah guess it's a good thing we have an early train to catch, huh?" The two exchanged smiles, Applejack's a bit weaker than her own.
"Better sooner than later! Besides! It mean more time in Manehattan~" Rarity was practically singing the words as she skipped over to her fridge and pulled out an exceptionally delicious looking bright red apple, straight from Sweet Apple Acres, no less.
"Ah hope ya don' mind that I had some o' yer coffee..."
Applejack sounded as nervous as she looked, and Rarity giggled while biting in to her apple. The stream of magic flowed from her horn and held it away from her face as she chewed, and when she ceased, she politely answered, "That is no problem at all. Why, I've barely had any since you replenished my apple juice! That has been all I've wanted!" It was true, the fresh apple juice Applejack had given her when she visited the farm was like none she had ever had before. Waiting really was worth it.
"Jus' let me know when yer ready to go... ahve been ready fer a while"
Immediately, Rarity's cheerful demeanor faltered. Her brow ridges creased and mouth gaped open and she looked down at herself in her robe. Why, her mane and tail were still in curlers as well! And she hadn't even removed her eye mask from atop her head! "Oh Applejack I'm so sorry I've kept you waiting up for me, and now, now I've got to go get ready! I don't even know when to expect Kale!" she breathed deeply, trying to calm herself. She was all packed, and so was Applejack. Her smile returned, "That's alright, it should only take me a moment."
With a pleasant smile and a light flutter of her lashes, she turned to exit the kitchen.
"An' what was that about somethin' inappropriate?"
Rarity stopped in her tracks, she had said that out loud...hadn't she... Without turning back to face Applejack, she replied, "Oh, nothing! You know me, always thinking aloud! I was just....hoping that my dress...would be appropriate for the birthday party. Yes, that was all!" she bit her lip, hoping Applejack would take that for an excuse, too embarrassed to share what she had actually been thinking. "Well I've really got to get ready! I will be back down soon!"
She practically galloped up the stairs and to her room, shutting the door behind her. "Now...to get ready quickly. I don't want to leave Applejack down there by herself too long...the poor dear looks practically dead. Not to mention, Kale should be here soon. Rarity! You woke up exceedingly early! But yet you are behind! How can this be?!" She shook her head disapprovingly, and untied the sash on her robe. From there, she slipped out of it, and placed it on the edge of her bed.
As she trotted to her powder room, she lightly brushed her fur down in a few places, then once in front of the mirror, she gave herself a firm nod. With that, her stream of magic engulfed her mane separated by curlers, swiftly removing them all at once. She followed the same procedure with the curlers on her tail, and gave her whole body a gentle shake. Each of the curls springing in to their respective place. "Lovely." she cooed.
Her routine was well rehearsed; she followed with the application of ice blue eye shadow, and voluminous mascara. Then a quick file of her hooves, and unicorn horn. And lastly, a spritz of her favorite perfume. She batted her lashes at herself in the mirror, followed by an array of her favorite expressions: Happy, flirty, giggly, fancy, coy, and lastly- dazzled. "Perfect!" she announced, exiting the room as if it were her very own stage.
"Now to just collect my bags and be on our way!"

It had been one of those nights.
After getting home, Kale's uncle had--naturally--extracted an explanation of what he was doing making deliveries so late at night. After giving one just long enough to satisfy, Kale had practically fled upstairs, to where he could safely fret without anypony looking. He didn't have much packed--aside from being a light traveler, he'd left most of his clothing in Manehattan--but he managed to think it needed checking at least half a dozen times. Even after the seventh time, he was still certain he'd forget something.
It'd be just like him to forget something on a weekend this important.
After getting ready to sleep and checking what he'd packed an eighth time, Kale got into bed and proceeded to not fall asleep for what seemed like ages. Instead, the pegasus tossed, turned, stared at the ceiling, stared at the window, counted sheep, and generally grew increasingly annoyed at himself for not being asleep already. At one point, he felt like he'd just woken up, but he could not tell how long he'd slept, or even be sure if he had at all. He certainly didn't feel well-rested.
Deciding that this was just going to drive him insane, Kale threw off the covers and went to go look at a clock. "Thank Celestia," he muttered when he saw it was about time to get up, anyways; the sooner he was free of waiting for the weekend to happen, the better. Shuffling blearily to the stairs, the pegasus pony passed a mirror and stopped. His mane, despite generally looking unkempt, somehow managed to look even more so today. Frowning, he tried to straighten it up a bit with a hoof, but the end result was just his dusty brown hairs falling into a different sort of messy. Giving up with a sigh of exasperation, he headed downstairs, made himself an omelet, ate it, went back upstairs, did his best to look less fatigued, checked his bags a ninth time, and finally left for Carousel Boutique.
He flew, knowing that the speed and wind would help wake him up. Winging his way over Ponyville, most of which was still asleep, was surreal; he couldn't help but think that where he was headed, this peacefulness could never exist. He only hoped that Applejack would be able to adapt. (Somehow, he had trouble imagining Rarity finding it difficult.) Coming to as soft a landing as he could manage, Kale walked the few extra paces to the door of the boutique and gave it a soft knock.
Hopefully the mares had had a better night than he.

Applejack stood by the door and the bags, moving in place, somewhere between the jitters of the coffee and swaying in place sleepily. With nothing else to do, she watched out the window, just in time to see Kale float down. She sighed to herself, determined to make this train ride as worry-free as possible... a nearly impossible task, but still worth striving for.
She answered the door right after he knocked, looking just about as tired as he did. She smiled to herself at the thought, letting out a quite "heh". She stepped aside to let Kale in. "C'mon in, Rarity's jus' fininishin' up an' then we can *yawn* we can get goin'." She smiled weakly, too tired to notice how much calmer she was around him thanks to her exhaustion. Then again, she'd probably be calm if the train decided to burst through the botique walls at this point.
At least..., She reminded herself ...it's not as bad as last Applebuckin' season... an' ah can git some sleep on the train...

Had he been more alert, Kale would likely have jumped in shock at the door opening so suddenly. He hadn't even put his hoof back down from knocking. But instead, he didn't react beyond arching his brows a bit. Evidently, the surreal aspect of the morning had no intention of ending anytime soon.
"Heh."
"Heh...hi," he responded simply. He couldn't help notice that Applejack looked, well, awful. She looked simultaneously exhausted and brimming with nervous energy, a state he knew enough about to be sympathetic. But to see it in Applejack was rather unusual; despite her apparent skittishness around him, he could see clearly enough that she was generally more confident than that.
Kale felt a twinge of guilt at the thought. Was he making Applejack uncomfortable?
"C'mon in, Rarity's jus' fininishin' up an' then we can *yawn* we can get goin'."
"Okay," he responded distractedly, shuffling into the boutique. Shortly after his eyes adjusted, he noticed the coffee pot on the table. That explains a lot, he thought to himself, glancing back at Applejack. "Rough night?" he asked ruefully; clearly, he wasn't the only one who'd had one.

Rarity smiled at herself in the mirror across from her. The new purse she had bought for the trip looked incredible strapped around her neck! But, there were other bags to gather. (And quite a few, at that.)
Fortunately for her, she was able to pack as much as she wanted. Unlike an Earth Pony, Rarity was able to channel magic to do the heavy lifting for her. Without a blink she gathered three larger suitcases up into the air. In fact, it wasn't until the seventh bag, that she even felt the slightest bit of pressure.
"Come now, Rarity!" she laughed nervously, "Only four more! You can do it! You want to look your best in Manehattan, don't you?" She nodded excitedly at the thought, and the bags began to wobble around her, the stream of magic losing its focus. She stomped a hoof and shut her eyes; the strain only visible in her brows, and the bags became still. "Four more..." she sighed, attempting to acquire the next.
Her next challenge, was fitting all of them neatly through her door frame. There were to be no nicks or dents anywhere on her precious walls- nor on her luggage! She stepped of of her room before the bags, turning to her side to allow them room to pass through. "One by one." she instructed herself aloud. And they followed suit, in an orderly fashion. With a determined look, she guided them down the spiral staircase, and they followed with the appearance of some whimsical parade.
As she had expected, she was greeted by the sight of two awkward ponies scuffing their hooves by the door. In her heart of hearts, she was warmed by their innocent romance- but at this moment in time, there was no room for mushy stuff. A bead of sweat was forming on Rarity's forehead, and just the thought of perspiration was enough to make her sweat.
"Come along now," she huffed, "We don't want to be late!" Late, of course, was much of an exaggeration. To leave now would make them quite early, in fact. But the though of gathering these bags again gave Rarity that dreaded eye twitch she tried so hard to rid of.
She rolled her eyes as she neared them. It was so painfully obvious that both hadn't a wink of sleep, because they were far too busy thinking, (or in their case- worrying), about the other. "You will have plenty of time to make less than adequate conversation on the train. Would you both please be dears and, get moving!"
Rarity let out a little "hmph" as she passed by the pair. Her eyebrows furrowed as the bags trailed behind her in a lackadaisical manner. She didn't check, but instead chose to believe that her swift exit would lead Applejack and Kale to follow. "I hope you two don't mind, I bumped us up to first class!" she called back to them, "Plush, velvety seats and complimentary beverages." she sighed daintily. "So the faster we get there, the sooner we can relax and mingle!" Her delightful, ladylike tone wavered in and out, (Mostly because of the physical strain she was enduring.), but she meant no ill will. Quite the opposite really. Rarity couldn't shake the excitement she harbored over this trip! And the faster they got to the station, the sooner it would begin!

Applejack's head snapped up with a jolt, her hat gently tumbled through the air and onto the floor as soon as Rarity had spoke up. She was actually nodding off right where she stood. In fact, she had actually only guessed that whatever Kale told her was real, and not just some kind of waking dream.
"Whuhuh? Yeah.... rough night... let's jus' go..." she blinked and scooped up her hat, narrowly missing getting hit in the face by a piece of Rarity's luggage as it soared over her head.
Speaking of luggage, Applejack has packed much lighter than Rarity, and possibly even lighter than Kale: just a single suitcase clutched in her mouth, and a pair of saddlebags on either side. Delicately balanced on her back was a very carefully contained Apple Pie, complete with a bow, obviously her gift to Kale's mother.
She was already seeing that that coffee was a bad idea. It was like she was both awake and asleep at the same time. In fact, Rarity's rush would have normally put her in a bad mood, but as she followed behind, the only words that really stuck out to her were "Velvety seats, huh?... sounds nice..." her eyelids fluttered before she quickly snapped awake again, trotting to follow Rarity... she barely remembered much of the walk beyond that... before she knew it, they were at the train station.

"Whuhuh? Yeah.... rough night... let's jus' go..."
Kale furrowed his brow, concern clearly on his face as he looked at Applejack. She didn't look sleepy; that was an understatement. It looked more like the orange pony hadn't closed her eyes in weeks. He was about to pick up her hat for her (he almost felt like she'd topple over if she tried to bend at all), but he'd barely moved when a large, purple trunk sailed along mere inches in front of his face.
"Come along now. We don't want to be late!"
Weaving his head between the remaining pieces of luggage that went flying past, Kale said incredulously, "Late? But--"
"You will have plenty of time to make less than adequate conversation on the train. Would you both please be dears and, get moving!"
He didn't understand what the rush was. They'd specifically agreed to meet this early so that they wouldn't miss the train; at this point, they were only at risk of missing it if one of them suddenly lost consciousness--though now, he realized, that might actually be a viable concern. "Okay," he responded defensively, a bit miffed by her comment about 'inadequate conversation.' He knew how bad he was at that, he didn't need Rarity to remind him. In fact, one of his favorite things about Ponyville had been that nopony tended to.
Upon seeing that Applejack had already retrieved her hat, the pegasus followed her back outside, gently pushing the door closed with a back hoof. Cantering a few paces to catch up with the mares, he remained close behind the earth pony, watching to make sure she didn't get left behind herself.
I hope you two don't mind, I bumped us up to first class! Plush, velvety seats and complimentary beverages. So the faster we get there, the sooner we can relax and mingle!"
"Velvety seats, huh?... sounds nice..."
"Um...I don't mind," Kale replied distractedly. It wasn't like he'd complain about being a little more comfortable on the train ride, even if it did put him at further risk of falling asleep. Besides, his family was fully capable of spending the few extra bits (though he was loath to toss them around quite as much as his parents). And perhaps most importantly, as long as Rarity and Applejack were contented on this trip, so was he.
And he'd declared having friends along would make this easier.
When they arrived at the train station, the trio found they were the only ones to have done so; the platform was deserted. Glancing either direction down the tracks, the stallion found himself stating the obvious just to break the silence: "So...we're early."

Just as the sight of the empty platform was sinking in, Kale spoke, "So...we're early."
Her immediate response was a highly uncivilized grunt, and, said noise that escaped her gave her such a fright that she lost focus- bags pummeling to the ground behind her. Rarity jumped forward with a yelp, not wanting one of them to land on her tail.
She took a series of deep breaths, visibly relaxing, before pressing on with Kale, "Why thank you for informing us." She flashed a grin, trying her best to keep her wits, "I certainly had not noticed." Her right eye twitched with frustration.
Well, now what were they to do? She'd planned everything else so accordingly, that she had left too much time in between the arrival of their train- and it's departure. Peering around, looking for a place to sit, she noticed the awkward distance between Kale and Applejack. Just what was she going to do with them? They were hardly themselves around one another... Rarity shuddered as several imagined scenarios flashed through her head, each involving the party. This was going to be harder than she had thought.
What had seemed like ages, (Approximately forty-five minutes), finally passed. Each of them in their original positions since arriving. Although more ponies had began to show up, they kept their distance from the oddly arranged group, (And Rarity's mountain of luggage.) Multiple failed attempts at socializing with others left Rarity to her humming, the only thing that kept herself sane; especially considering the heavy silence between the three.
At first, the sound of the train blended with her tune, but as it drew nearer, she perked up her ears and lifted an eyelid. "Ooh~" she clapped her hooves on the ground, "The train has arrived!" She turned to face her bags with a smirk, knowing full well they were somepony else's problem for the time being.

Applejack has just about managed to somehow start to drift off to sleep where she stood... After all, the the station was as deathly silent as it was empty. So, she just let her head sink with her eyelids and....
A thundering rumble of crashes snapped her back to reality! The pony rolled her eyes when she saw that it turned out to be Rarity's Luggage. "Heh, glad to see ya packed light..." she commented, as if she was noticing it just now for the first time. Of course, Rarity's little snap caused Applejack to sigh and step between the other two ponies. "Calm down now sugarcube, it's a mite early fer all o' us."
It seemed that the crashing of luggage woke Applejack up quite a bit. Her eyelids felt just as heavy, and she still yearned for those promised comfy seats... but at least she was a bit more aware of the world around her and thinking a bit more clearly.
She was still pretty quiet, not quite sure what to say to either of her friends. And she certainly wasn't in the mood to strike up a conversation with strangers, especially as they kept their distance from the group. By the time the train appeared in the distance, Applejack had already picked up her suitcase in her mouth, anxiously awaiting the moment they could all climb on, and she could get a little shuteye...

Rarity's grunt startled Kale just as much as it did her. What was even more startling was the sudden rain of luggage that followed; the pegasus could only be grateful that it was a small bag that hit his flank before tumbling to the ground. Glancing in shock at the bag, his eyes somehow widened even more when he shifted his gaze to Rarity.
She looked a bit perturbed.
Why thank you for informing us. I certainly had not noticed."
Kale shrank back, ears laying back as though they, too, were trying to get away from the irate unicorn. He'd known that there was no real point in saying what he had--he just wanted to break the silence with something--but he hadn't expected anger in response. If anything, he'd hoped Rarity might resume picking up the conversational slack from him and Applejack.
Granted, staring him down and flinging sarcasm at him was technically talking. Just not the sort he'd been after.
"Calm down now sugarcube, it's a mite early fer all o' us."
Stepping back a pace as Applejack interposed herself between him and Rarity, Kale straightened up a bit and stared down the railway. He was embarrassed; apparently, his time in Ponyville had made him forget why he didn't attempt small talk. Usually, it just got him odd looks and subject changes, and that was bad enough. Having a friend snap at him was the perfect reminder to shut his mouth and keep it that way. Even worse was forcing Applejack to stand up for him. He knew he wasn't the most aggressive stallion, but it still seemed very unimpressive to him.
So, nearly an hour passed in uneasy silence. Kale did everything he could to avoid looking at his companions, instead taking an apparent interest in the horizon or the wood of the station platform. Finally, Rarity broke the silence, just as a distant sound became audible.
"The train has arrived!"
Kale perked up and watched the machine arrive, gliding to a smooth halt with steam wreathing the entire station. Suddenly, the peaceful platform became a beehive of activity, with ponies rushing to the correct cars, hefting luggage aboard, or just chattering excitedly. It was like the entire world had shifted, and to be honest, it was a welcome change. Finally glancing at his friends, the stallion saw Rarity giving her luggage a rather smug look. Frowning in confusion, he almost asked her what was going on when he was interrupted by another voice.
"Excuse me, do you need assistance with those?" asked a porter. He seemed to simply be courteous, but Kale could detect a faint undertone of resignation in his voice. He'd heart the same thing from the kitchen staff at home whenever somepony was being difficult; obviously, the porter was less than thrilled at the notion of lugging all that baggage to the back of the train.
As much as Kale wanted to tell him they could manage, though, it was obvious Rarity had no intention of magicking her luggage there. And he doubted he could haul eleven extra bags across the platform himself.
"Uh...just a little," he admitted, balancing one of the medium-sized pieces of baggage on his back. He just hoped they could get a taxi from the station in Manehattan; he wasn't sure they'd all make it to his parents' apartment alive, otherwise.

A stout stallion wearily made his way over to Rarity's luggage, that was, until he saw her. Immediately, he toughened up and addressed her, "Excuse me, Miss. Could I help you with those?"
Rarity simply smiled, no effort was required on her part this time. "Why, thank you dear." A little nod gave him permission to gather her things, and she sauntered off to the train.
One hoof inside and she released a sizable gasp. The car was just as beautiful as she had imagined, making it easy to get comfortable right away. "This is marvelous!" she chimed, curling up on a rich, velvety seat. "Kale and Applejack are sure to love this!" Her ears perked up at her own words and she inspected the two benches across from one another.
Just where exactly would those two sit? She would certainly make room for Applejack, but wouldn't they rather sit together? Or perhaps...Rarity shook her head, Applejack would be sitting with him and that was final!
She gleamed as they entered, her tail swiping across the remaining space on her bench, signaling that there was in fact, NO room for either of them. Oh, how clever she was!

"Why, thank you dear."
Apparently contented that her luggage would make it to Manehattan now, Rarity wandered off toward the first-class carriage. Kale, meanwhile, was trying to get another piece of her luggage onto his back without the first one toppling off. The porter, though, said simply, "Sir, I can take care of that." Pausing long enough to turn an embarrassed--and grateful--look at the unicorn, he mumbled thanks and let the extra bag back down to the platform.
After checking to make sure Applejack was still with him (and still conscious), the pegasus made his way through the bustle toward the rear of the train, where the fancier ponies sat. As distasteful as the prospect of being stuck in a train car with said fancy ponies was, though, Kale figured it was probably fitting.
That was to be his whole weekend, why not start now?
The first glance of the train car shattered no expectations. It was, to put it simply, luxurious: a corridor ran the length of one side of the carriage, with a few doors leading into the few private compartments there were room for. Everything was glossy wood paneling, rich green carpets, and warmly glowing oil lamps. A flash of purple in one of the doorways made it obvious which compartment Rarity had gone into; once again checking that Applejack was with him, Kale padded along the plush hall to follow her in.
When he got there, a new problem presented itself. Rarity had stretched herself all the way along one seat, obvious satisfaction in her smile. Confused by her apparent pride in...whatever she'd done, Kale glanced at the other seat and realized. There was enough room for two ponies to sit on either lushly upholstered bench (and quite comfortably; it was first class, after all), and she had no intention of letting Applejack sit with her. Clearly, she would not be letting up on the pair in any way.
Kale couldn't tell if Rarity loved them...or just hated him.
Stowing his and Rarity's bags under their respective seats, the stallion perched on the window side of his seat, sitting right up against the wall to leave Applejack plenty of room. Frankly, he hoped she did fall asleep during the trip, for both their sakes; not only would she be less exhausted once they reached Manehattan, but he'd be able to present her to his parents without worrying she'd collapse. Really, it was a win-win.
After a few minutes, the view through the window began to move. Slowly at first, then faster and faster, the trees and buildings rushed past; before long, Ponyville was gone, and the train chugged alone through a wide, grassy plain. Kale was glued to the window, obviously fascinated. "It's so...open," he muttered, still watching. "You're lucky if you can see further than a few blocks in Manehattan..."
[[Awkward ending is abrupt. And awkward.]]

Applejack was the last to get on. She almost missed the train itself too! It seems that right after Kale checked on her, she dozed off again! She was just standing there sleeping for a few long moments.
The train's whistle knocked her back into reality, as the wheels started to roll ever-so-slowly. She charged forward, yelling out a "SORRY!" to the porter as she knocked him over. Thankfully, he wasn't carrying any bags at the time. She hopped on, wide awake now thanks to that adrenelyne rush, and tried to casually enter the car like nothing happened.
"Wow... this sure is fancy..." she mumbled through her suitcase handle, looking around. She realized a little too late that she was stuck with the decision of where to sit... one that Rarity was making for her.
